Chuck Sanzio Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Sophomore pitcher earns second weekly conference honor of the season
QUEENS, N.Y.- After two scoreless relief appearances in the Red Storm's series win over Georgetown, Chuck Sanzio was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced on Monday.

Sanzio did not allow a run over 4.2 relief innings against Georgetown over the weekend, compiling nine strikeouts along the way. After fanning two batters in 1.1 innings on Saturday, Sanzio picked up his second win of the season in the Red Storm's walk-off victory on Sunday. The sophomore righthander tossed 3.1 innings with a career-high seven punchouts to deliver a crucial series victory for the Johnnies.Â

Sanzio owns a 3.70 ERA which is the lowest among active pitchers on the Red Storm roster. Monday's announcement marks the second weekly honor of the season for Sanzio and the fourth for Johnnies pitching overall.

The Red Storm will return to action tomorrow afternoon when it travels to Staten Island to take on Wagner. First pitch from SIUH Community Park is set for 3:30 p.m. Â
