Collins Joins Junior Football Ferns Squad

The Auckland, New Zealand, native readies for international play
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's women's soccer junior Ava Collins will join New Zealand's Junior Football Ferns U-20 squad for their matches in Auckland, New Zealand from June 7-16.
During her sophomore campaign, Collins played in 20 matches for the Red Storm, making 15 starts. She recorded four goals on the year, including the game-winner against Brown in extra-time during the Johnnies' opening match of the NCAA tournament.
As a freshman, the midfielder played in all 12 matches, starting in 11. Collins landed a spot on the All-BIG EAST Freshman team and found a place on the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Second Team. She checked in at no. 32 on the TopDrawerSoccer Postseason top-100 freshmen list and no. 55 on the midseason's top-100 freshmen list. The Auckland, New Zealand, native paced the St. John's squad in assists, as she posted five helpers, which tied for third in the conference.
Collins will join the 23 other athletes on the Junior Football Ferns roster. She is one of four collegiate players to make the squad. She previously represented New Zealand at the SheBelieves Cup in February and during the April FIFA window.
