St. John's (11-6, 1-5 BIG EAST) looks to bounce back after falling to the Friars, 83-80, on Saturday despite having five in double figures. Double-double machine Joel Soriano tallied his NCAA-leading 14th of the season behind a 16-point, 10-rebound performance. His 14 double-doubles are the most by a Johnnie in a single season since current Coordinator of Basketball Operations Zendon Hamilton delivered 14 of his own in the 1997-98 season.
Posh Alexander chipped in 14 points on the road and O'Mar Stanley added a season-high 13 points on a perfect 6-for-6 from the field. Dylan Addae-Wusu also recorded a career-high five steals against the Friars, marking the second time this season a Johnnie has tallied five or more steals in a game, joining Alexander who tallied six against Merrimack on Nov. 7.
The Red Storm continues to rank among the NCAA's best on the glass with a BIG EAST-leading 40.1 boards per game, good for 10th in the nation. Soriano has the third-highest average in Division I with 12.1 per contest. The Yonkers native is also fifth in NCAA with 4.2 offensive boards and sixth with 7.9 defensive rebounds per game.
