Noemi Babikova picks up four total victories
The St. John's women's tennis team concluded the Princeton Invite on Sunday after winning seven matches throughout the weekend.
The Red Storm competed against players from Drexel, LIU, Princeton and Rutgers over three days in Central Jersey.
Noemi Babikova continued her strong start to her freshman season, totaling four wins on the weekend. The Boldog, Slovakia native picked up two of her victories on the singles court, defeating Arina Valitova from Rutgers on Friday before taking down Drexel's Bia Ibrahim on Sunday.
Babikova also earned two wins on the doubles court while paired with Alicia Gomez. The duo defeated Amira Badawi and Minchae Kim from Rutgers 6-3 on Friday and won again on Sunday, defeating LIU's Lucy Garrigues and Saki Oyama 6-2. Babikova and Gomez have now won four matches together this fall.
Victoria Papadopoulou and Gomez also picked a win each on the singles court. The full results from the weekend are below.
Next weekend, Mouna Bouzgarrou and Arina Gumerova will represent the Red Storm at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Super Regionals doubles competition at West Point, beginning on Oct. 20. The full squad will be back in action at the UB Invite in Buffalo for its final event of the fall on Nov. 3-5.
