Red Storm cap off event in seventh place
HAMPDEN, Mass. – St. John's men's golfer Thomas Finn finished third overall at the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse.
The Red Storm finished seventh as a team in Hampden, Mass., and shot a 32-over, 896. In the final round on Tuesday, the Johnnies carded an 11-over, 299.
UConn took home the team title at its home event scoring 4-over, 868 at GreatHorse.
Finn held the lead for the majority of the third round and ended the tournament at 1-over, 216, to finish inside the top-3, the highest of his young collegiate career. Over the three days, the rookie tallied seven birdies.
2023 All-BIG EAST First Team selection Peicheng Chen had a stellar final round shooting a team-low 2-under, 70, on Tuesday. The junior logged three birdies over the closing 18 holes. Chen moved up 23 spots on the final day and finished tied for 39th.
Ryan Rittberger placed inside the top-30 and second on the team after recording a 9-over, 225 to take 28th place.
The Red Storm will be back in action on Oct. 16-17 with the squad heads to another conference foes home tournament, the Xavier Invitational in Cincinnati.
