Xuan Khue Minh Doan Tied for the Lead After Opening Day of Quinnipiac Classic

Red Storm sit in third out of 13 teams after first two rounds
WALLINGFORD, Conn. – St. John's women's golfer Xuan Khue Minh Doan sits tied for the lead after the opening day of the Quinnipiac Classic.
The Wofford transfer shot 3-over, 147, to lead the 74-golfer field alongside Sastry Pakruthi of Merrimack. The sophomore logged four birdies over the first 18 holes to record a team-low 1-over, 73 at Farms Country Club.
The Red Storm currently sit in third place out of 13 schools after carding a 36-over, 612 after the opening 36 holes. Three Red Storm golfers recorded five birdies on a sunny day in Connecticut.
Quinnipiac leads in its home tournament after recording a 23-over, 599 in Wallingford, Conn.
Angelica Kusnowo is currently ranked tied for 10th on the heels of a superb second round. The senior tied Minh Doan for the team-low on the day firing a 1-over, 73 over her final 18 holes on Monday, including 1-under the back-nine after a birdie on the 18thgreen. Overall, the Chino Hills, Calif., native tallied a 7-over, 151 to place inside the top-10.
Cloe Clocchiatti checks in next for the Johnnies after registering a 12-over, 156 to sit in 20th place. The graduate student tied for the team-high five birdies, including three in the latter round of the day.
Laia Barro was the third golfer to don the Red & White and tally five birdies at the Quinnipiac Classic. The Phillipines native flushed four birdies during the first round. Heading into the clubhouse, the graduate student is tied for 30th place after carding a 15-over, 159.
The Red Storm will tee off in tomorrow's final round around 9 a.m. from Farms Country Club.
