St. John’s to Take on UCF in Game Two of Discover Puerto Rico Classic

Red Storm will tip-off in San Juan at 3 p.m. ET
SAN JUAN, P.R. – The St. John's women's basketball team will take on UCF on Friday in its second of three games at the Discover Puerto Rico Classic.
The Red Storm are set to start at 3 p.m. ET and the game will be streamed on FloSports.
In its opener in Puerto Rico, St. John's took its first lead midway through the final quarter but ultimately suffered a narrow setback against VCU, 56-51, on Thanksgiving night.
After taking a 10-point lead to start off the game, the Rams never led by more than seven after that and the deficit was within a possessions for the majority of the contest.
Ber'Nyah Mayo went for a season-high 20 points to lead all scorers in the outing against the Rams. The senior shot 8-for-12 from field-goal range and added 10 points in the final quarter
Over her last three games, the point guard is averaging 14.0 points per contest.
Unique Drake added nine points during Thursday's setback. The prolific scorer is averaging 20.2 points per game and poured in 30 points in Sunday's win over Manhattan.
The Red Storm defense forced 22 turnovers on Thursday and converted them into 25 points. It marked the third time this season the Johnnies have caused 20-plus takeaways and opponents are currently averaging 19.4 turnovers.
UCF enters the game with an undefeated 4-0 record on the year. In its first outing in San Juan, the Knights took care of business against Jackson State, running away with a 63-54 victory on Thursday afternoon.
Kaitlin Peterson leads the Knights averaging 21.5 points per game to lead the squad. The Knights have four players averaging 8.0 points or more per contest.
Friday's meeting marks the fourth meeting between the programs and the first since 2015. The Red Storm played the Knights three times from 2012-15 under the direction of Head Coach Joe Tartamella. The Johnnies have won all three previous meetings.
Following Friday's contest, the Red Storm will play one final game from Puerto Rico on Saturday night against Jackson State at 8 p.m. ET.
