The Johnnies stunned Marquette, 3-2, to earn third-ever title appearance
MILWAUKEE (Nov. 24, 2023) – The third-seeded St. John's volleyball team will face off against top-seeded Creighton in the title match of the BIG EAST Volleyball Championship presented by JEEP.
The Red Storm's battle with the Bluejays is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday inside the Al McGuire Center in Milwaukee. The conference championship will be nationally broadcast on FS2 by Bob Brainerd and Anna Connelly. Live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.

On Friday, the Johnnies stunned second-seeded Marquette with a 3-2 victory on their home court in the BIG EAST Tournament Semifinals. The victory sent the squad to its third BIG EAST Championship match in program history. With the win, the Red Storm now holds a 9-9 record all-time in BIG EAST Tournament matches.
Lucrezia Lodi paced the Johnnies with 20 kills at a 30.1 hitting percentage and logged three aces. Erin Jones posted her 13th double-double of the season against the Golden Eagles. The sophomore contributed 20 assists, 12 digs, nine kills and two aces.
Additionally, St. John's snapped a streak of six-straight title game appearances for Marquette.
The Johnnies swept sixth-seeded Villanova in straight sets in the first round of the conference championship on Wednesday.
St. John's holds a 2-0 record in conference title matches. In 2007, the squad bested then-No. 21 Louisville, 3-0 and in 2019, they stunned then-No. 12 Marquette, 3-1. They have outscored their conference title opponents six sets to one.
On Tuesday, the BIG EAST announced its annual volleyball awards. The Red Storm cleaned up a plethora of accolades earning co-coaching staff of the year, splitting the honor with championship foe Creighton.
Jones and Lodi landed on the All-BIG EAST Team, while Rashanny Solano-Smith was tabbed to the league's all-freshman team. Jones and Solano Smith were both unanimous selections.
The Johnnies will face off against Creighton for the third time this season and the second time ever in the conference tournament. The squad fell to the Bluejays in both of their meetings this season, 3-0, at DJ Sokol Arena and 3-1, inside Carnesecca Arena.
Since joining the league in 2013, Creighton will make its 10th appearance in the championship match and has won eight of the last nine titles.
The Bluejays completed the regular season with a 16-2 BIG EAST mark and a 24-5 overall record which earned them the first seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. The Johnnies bested the Bluejays, 3-0, in the opening round of the 2019 BIG EAST Volleyball Championship.
Since returning from injury, Norah Sis has been a force for Creighton. Sis has amassed 244 kills at 3.87 per set (2nd BIG EAST). BIG EAST Player of the Year Kendra Wait has totaled 1047 assists, averaging 10.26 per set which is the second-best in the conference. The senior has also tallied a team-best 349 digs at 3.42 per set.
