Jessica Garziano Named to United Soccer Coaches All-East Region First Team

Graduate student was named BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year on Nov. 1
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's women's soccer standout Jessica Garziano added to her lengthy list of accolades on Tuesday afternoon earning a spot on the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region First Team.
The organization unveiled their selections for eight regions across the country on Tuesday afternoon.
Garziano was outstanding during her final campaign tallying 10 goals and 11 assists, becoming the first-ever St. John's player to reach double-digits in both statistical categories.
On Nov. 1, the Melville, N.Y., native was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year and was unanimously selected to the league's first team. Garziano became just the third player in Red Storm history to earn conference recognition four times.
The midfielder led the BIG EAST in points (31), assists (11) and finished second in goals (10). She averaged 0.58 helpers per game, which ranked 11th nationally. Garziano's single-season point mark ranks fifth all-time in program history and 22nd in the country.
On Sept. 17, the Long Island native became the program's all-time assist with her second helper of the day in a dramatic 4-3 victory over Harvard at Belson Stadium. She surpassed Jamie Clark with the 28th of her tenure. Garziano finished out with 33 career assists, which ranks fourth among active career leaders in NCAA Division I.
The graduate student's United Soccer Coaches honor marks the third of her career and the second time she has landed on the first team. She becomes just the fifth player in program history to ever be honored by the association three times joining- World Cup finalist Rachel Daly and standouts Diana Poulin, Georgia Kearney-Perry and Zsani Kajan.
Last week, Gazraino was tabbed to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
The St. John's women's soccer team finished with a 10-6-3 record and advanced to its third consecutive BIG EAST Tournament.
