The Red Storm will open BIG EAST play next weekend against Villanova
QUEENS, N.Y. (Feb. 17, 2023) - The St. John's women's tennis team fell to Delaware, 6-1, on Friday afternoon at Delcastle Tennis Center.
The Red Storm (5-4) snapped its five-match winning streak.
The Johnnies were unable to capture the doubles point for the first time since January 21, against Dartmouth. The Blue Hens won two matches to clinch the point. The third doubles match was deemed unfinished.
In singles play, Mouna Bouzgarrou captured the lone victory for the Red Storm. She defeated Alina Vasilenko, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Yesica de Lucas and Amaya Lopez forced three sets in each of their singles matches. De Lucas was unable to complete the comeback and fell 2-6, 7-5, 4-6 to Eliza Askerova. Lopez was unable to capitalize after the first set victory and fell to Maryia Hyrnashka, 7-6,2-6, 3-6
