Women’s Tennis Hosts St. Francis Brooklyn in Midweek Match

Red Storm are currently on four-match winning streak
QUEENS, N.Y. (Feb. 7, 2023)- The St. John's women's tennis team will host St. Francis Brooklyn on Wednesday afternoon. The match is scheduled to start with doubles play at 12:15 p.m., with singles play to follow and will be held at the USTA Tennis Center.
The Red Storm have been on a hot streak as of late, winning its last four matches. Yesica de Lucas has been having a stellar season as well. The senior holds a team-best 6-1 record in singles play and has won her last five matches. She also has the most doubles wins on the team earning four alongside Jayden Nielsen and earned one victory last weekend with Emilie Haakansson.
Willa Bay Breunich has also been on a roll, winning her last four matches and compiling a 5-2 overall record in singles play. Like de Lucas, her doubles team has also been producing wins. Teamed up with Camila Ordonez, the duo is 3-2 and have played every match together this season.
The St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers enter Wednesday 0-5 on the season. The Terriers will embark on their fifth road match of the season against the red Storm, continuing their grueling schedule with another road match on Saturday at Temple. Head Coach Chad Davis is in his 18th season with the Terriers.
Wednesday will mark the second ever meeting between the two programs. The Red Storm won the first ever meeting with the Terriers last spring, in a 7-0 sweep at USTA.
The Johnnies will have an eight-day hiatus before traveling to Delaware next Friday. First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m. against the Blue Hens at Delcastle Tennis Center.
