St. John’s Concludes Indoor Season at ECAC Championships

Nine Johnnies logged top-10 finishes in Boston
BOSTON- The St. John's track and field team wrapped up the indoor portion of its 2022-23 schedule at the ECAC Championships at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Nine members of the Red Storm logged a top-10 result in an event final, and the Johnnies amassed 24 points as a team to finish 12th out of 43 teams.
Samantha Morillo-Martinez found the podium for the second straight meet, finishing second in the shot put with a toss of 14.18 meters to give the Red Storm a big eight points. Freshman Jamora Alves grabbed seventh with a heave of 12.96 meters.
Tatyana McKenzie secured fourth in the 200-meter dash with a mark of 23.89. Delicia Bent and Brooklyn Chestnut logged times of 24.60 and 24.73 to secure 10th and 11th, respectively.
In the 400-meter dash, Nora Haugen posted a mark of 55.64 to finish eighth among the best in the Northeast. Chestnut captured a fifth-place result in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.60.
Nia Holden registered a time of 2:12.33 in the 800-meter run, and Cassandra Lemus-Sodji and Mandana Vouillemin finished in the top 10 in the long jump with leaps of 5.47 and 5.35 meters, respectively.
The Red Storm will open the outdoor season with a trip to Tampa, Fla., to take part in the USF Invite on March 17.
