St. John’s Competes at USF Invite

Tatyana McKenzie posted three top-10 finishes in Tampa
TAMPA, Fla.- The St. John's track and field team opened its outdoor season with a solid showing at the USF Invite in Tampa, Fla., on Friday and Saturday.
Tatyana McKenzie got her outdoor campaign off to a strong start, finishing fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.67 and ninth in the 100 meters with a mark of 11.81. Both of McKenzie's times lead the BIG EAST through the first weekend of outdoor competition.
Chinenye Onuorah and Nora Haugen posted top-10 results in the 400-meter dash with a times of 56.20 and 56.53, respectively. Claire Cushing posted a personal best in the 5,000-meter run with an impressive mark of 17:15.27, finishing fourth against some of the best track athletes in the nation. The 4x100-meter relay quartet of Brooklyn Chestnut, Delicia Bent, McKenzie and Tea Siehou secured fifth with a time of 46.11.
Samantha Morillo-Martinez and Jamora Alves captured seventh and eighth place in the shot put toss, respectively. Morillo-Martinez registered a toss of 14.33 meters while Alves posted a heave of 13.85 meters.
The Red Storm will stay in the Sunshine State to take part in the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational on March 25.
