Women’s Tennis Sweeps Radford, 4-0

The Red Storm will close out the week on the road at Yale
QUEENS, N.Y. (March 8, 2023) - The St. John's women's tennis team swept Radford, 4-0 at USTA Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.
With the victory, the Johnnies improve to 7-5 overall on the season, and are 1-0 in the BIG EAST.
The Red Storm earned the first point of the match, winning the doubles point. The Red Storm won the first two doubles pairings, clinching the point before the third match was completed. In the top slot, Mouna Bouzgarrou and Lalita Devarakonda knocked off Julia Abrams and Emily Brandow, 6-3. Amaya Lopez and Yesica de Lucas teamed up for the second consecutive match and defeated Brooke Murphy and Ameek Batth, 6-2.
In singles play, three Johnnies earned their second win of the day, to clinch the victory for the Red Storm. Devarakonda improved to on the season with a 6-3, 6-4 win against Abrams at No. 1 singles. de Lucas notched her win of the season, 7-5, 6-2 over Brandow. Lopez was victorious in No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-4, against Murphy.
St. John's will finish its week with a match at Yale on Saturday at 10 a.m. This will be the first time in three weeks that the Johnnies will have multiple matches in the same week. The Johnnies will play their next BIG EAST opponent, on March 17, when they host Providence at the USTA Tennis Center.
