St. John’s Takes Fifth at Wildcat Spring Invitational

Tyler Gerbavsits finishes team-best sixth place
GLENSIDE, Pa.- The St. John's men's golf concluded the Wildcat Spring Invitational in fifth place with a total team score of 14-over after 36 holes at LuLu Country Club.
Villanova took the team title out of 15 schools shooting even par at its spring home event.
Tyler Gerbavsits shined for the Johnnies in Glenside, Pa. The graduate student finished a team-best seventh overall after registering an even par total score. In his second and final round, Gerbavsits fired a 1-under, 70, to climb back to even par and record a top-10 finish.
Jack Simon checked in next for the Red Storm at 11th place finishing the event at 1-over. The Sparta, N.J., native tallied two eagles, which led the field.
Ryan Rittberger completed the tournament with a mark of 6-over to come in 32nd. The senior shined in the opening round logging a 1-over, 72, on Monday.
Peicheng Chen bounced back shooting even par, 71, on the heels of six birdies in his final round. The sophomore ended the tournament tied for 52nd with a score of 9-over.
Next up for the Red Storm is the Mountaineer Invitational, hosted by West Virginia at Pete Dye Golf Club in Morgantown on April 17-18.
