Women’s Tennis Sweeps Seton Hall in Regular Season Finale, 7-0

The Red Storm finish BIG EAST play boasting a 5-2 record
NEWARK, N.J. - The St. John's women's tennis team concluded its regular season slate with a 7-0 sweep of Seton Hall at The Campus Courts at Ivy Park on Friday afternoon.
With the win, the Red Storm improves to 12-8 overall and 5-2 in BIG EAST play.
In an unconventional match, St. John's won the only played doubles match, 6-3. The duo of Emilie Haakansson and Mouna Bouzgarrou knocked off Oliwia Kempinski and Bella Moen. The other two matches were Red Storm victories by default. The pairing of Lalita Devarakonda and Amaya Lopez was credited with the win in the second court and the tandem of Willa Bay Breunich and Camila Ordonez notched the victory in the No. 3 slot.
The Johnnies won all three of the played singles matches and won three by default. Yesica de Lucas notched her 29th total win of the season and 17th in singles play with a 6-3, 6-2, victory in the No. 1 court against Kempinski. Lopez earned the victory in the second slot, 5-7, 6-2, 10-6, over Moen. Ordonez defeated Emily O'Donovan, 6-3, 6-4. Jayden Nielsen, Breunich and Haakansson were credited with wins by default to round out the 7-0 victory
St. John's will await their seeding for the BIG EAST Championships starting on Thursday in Cayce, S.C. at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Club. The winner of the event will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division 1 Women's Tennis Championship.
