St. John’s Travels to Providence for Regular Season Finale

Red Storm to meet the Friars at noon on Saturday
QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's lacrosse team will travel to Providence for its regular season finale on Saturday at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.
The Red Storm will face-off against the Friars at noon and the contest will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports with Mike Mancuso on the call.
St. John's is coming off a Senior Day loss to No. 9/8 Georgetown at Belson Stadium, 18-12. The Red Storm scored four-straight to cut deficit to four early in the third quarter but were unable to inch any closer to the Hoyas.
Brian Kelly tallied his fourth hat-trick of the 2023 campaign to pace the Red Storm attacking unit. The sophomore has recorded a team-high 41 points (25 G's and 16 A's) this season surpassing the 40-point mark for the second consecutive year. The Red Hook, N.Y., native has racked up 85 career points in just 27 games and sits four points shy of tying for top-20 all-time in scoring.
Long-stick midfielder Gavin Legg logged another longpole goal in Saturday's home finale in Queens. A Michigan transfer, Legg has provided a boost in his first-year with the program. The graduate student has five goals and two assists (7 points) from a defensive-minded position, ranks second on the team in groundballs (28) and first in caused turnovers (18).
St. John's comes into the game with an all-time series lead of 15-7 over the Friars but are seeking its first victory since 2015 over its conference foe. In last year's regular season finale, Providence outlasted the Johnnies, 20-14, at DaSilva Memorial Field. Former Johnnie Patrick Ednie led the team with three goals and a pair of assists.
Providence enters with a 5-8 record overall and after winning its BIG EAST opener against Maruqette, 16-14, its dropped three-straight in league play.
