St. John’s is off to Face Marquette on Saturday

First face-off from Valley Fields is slated for 12 p.m. ET on FloSports
QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's lacrosse team will venture to the Midwest for an Easter Weekend battle with Marquette on Saturday.
The Red Storm will meet the Golden Eagles in a BIG EAST battle at 12 p.m. ET from Valley Fields. The contest will be streamed on FloSports with Scott Sudikoff and Eric Simon on the call.
The Johnnies enter the game after falling at No. 6/6 Villanova, 18-8, in their BIG EAST opener last Saturday.
Kyle Munson racked up the most saves by a Red Storm goaltender since 2007 against the Wildcats. The senior made 20 stops on Saturday, marking a career-high for the Drexel transfer. On the year, Munson is averaging 13.1 saves per game which ranks 16th in the country.
Sean Duffy had his best appearance in the Red & White in Villanova, Pa., pouring in a season-high five points. The graduate student midfielder fired in a first half hat-trick and added two assists in the losing effort.
Brian Kelly extended his point streak to 11 games after registering a pair of assists. The attackman has 34 points on the year, which ranks fourth in the BIG EAST.
The long-stick midfielder Gavin Legg recorded career-highs in points (2) and groundballs at Villanova Stadium.
The two league foes have squared off 10 times in the last 10 years. Prior to last year, three of the four previous meetings were decided by a single goal. In 2022, Marquette took a 23-13 victory at DaSilva Memorial Field. Former Johnnie Jonathan Huber broke the single-game record pouring in eight goals. Kelly fired in a career-high five goals and added one helper against the Golden Eagles.
Marquette comes into the game after dropping its conference opener to Providence, 16-14. The Golden Eagles have a 5-4 overall record and have registered victories over Michigan and then-No. 5 Penn State.
The squad is led by sophomore Bobby O' Grady who has put in 24 goals in nine games, which ranks tied for second in the BIG EAST. Jake Stegman is Marquette's points leader, the attackman has tallied 31 on 11 goals and 20 assists.
