Women’s Tennis Falls at DePaul, 4-3

The Red Storm will conclude the regular season with a Friday match at Seton Hall
CHICAGO - The St. John's women's tennis team suffered a setback at DePaul, 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at XS Village.
The Johnnies suffered just their second conference loss of the season falling to 4-2 in the BIG EAST and 11-8 overall.
The Red Storm secured the doubles point handedly winning the first two matches. Yesica de Lucas and Jayden Nielsen cruised to a 6-1 victory against Lenka Antonijevic and Eleanor Nobbs. Mouna Bouzgarrou and Emilie Haakansson clinched the point with 6-4 win in the second slot over Yuliya Kizelbasheva and Maddie Yergler.
In singles play, the Blue Demons surged to claim four of the six singles matches and win the contest. de Lucas recorded her team-high 16th victory of the season, with a 6-1, 6-3, victory of Nobbs. Bouzgarrou also logged her second win of the day in comeback fashion. After dropping the first set, 4-6, she ultimately claimed the victory with 6-1, 6-4 wins in the second and third set over Hannah Smith. DePaul won the other four matches in straight sets.
St. John's will conclude its regular season slate with a Friday afternoon match next week at Seton Hall. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at the Campus Courts at Ivy Hill Park.
