Red Storm have strong weekend in Philadelphia

QUEENS, N.Y. (Sept. 18, 2023) – The St. John's men's tennis team opened its fall schedule this past weekend at the Penn Invite in Philadelphia.

The Red Storm competed in the eight-team event alongside players from Penn, Dartmouth, Temple, Liberty, Navy, Delaware and Yale.

Transfers Martin Bugaj and Francisco Bascón came out with two wins in three opportunities in doubles play. Adam Groves had a strong start to his sophomore campaign, winning all three doubles matches and both individual contests he played throughout the three-day event.

Danilo Raicevic impressed in his St. John's debut, winning five matches over the three days, including two wins when paired with 2023 First Team All-BIG EAST selection, Carl Gustavsson. The full results from the weekend are below.

St. John's will return to action on Sept. 30 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
