McLennon spoke about pediatric brain cancer at the White House Cancer Moonshot event
WASHINGTON D.C. – St. John's track and field alumnus Saphrona McLennon spoke at the White House's Cancer Moonshot on Friday, Sept. 22.
McLennon was invited to speak at the White House regarding her work in pediatric brain cancer through her organization, the Zoefia Alexandria Foundation. The charitable organization's goal is to help and enrich the lives of children battling brain cancer and their families.
"This was an amazing experience, I was honored and humbled to speak about Zoey's story," said McLennon. "[Zoefia] and I had a pact, if she kept fighting, I would keep fighting. She fought until her body couldn't and I will forever keep my promise and advocate not just for her memory and those who have passed away, but for those who are currently battling and those who are not yet diagnosed."
At this year's Childhood Cancer Forum, McLennon spoke alongside key advocates, patients, caregivers, researchers and administration officials. They gave updates on key policy and initiatives, as well as discussing solutions and programs that would benefit patients and their families.
McLennon founded the organization after the tragic passing of her daughter Zoefia Alexandria from brain cancer in 2019. In July of 2022, the Red Storm continued its partnership with the Zoefia Alexandria Foundation.
