St. John’s Shines at Quinnipiac Classic

Red Storm finished tied for third; Karen Beglin places second
WALLINGFORD, Conn.– The St. John's women's golf team shined at the Quinnipiac Classic recording a third-place finish at the Quinnipiac Classic in Wallingford, Conn on Tuesday.
The Red Storm carded a 63-over, 927, through three rounds at Farms Country Club and finished just seven strokes shy of the tournament champions in Penn. The squad logged a 21-over, 309, in Tuesday's third and final round to tie with Quinnipiac for a top-3 finish, the program's highest since it came in runner-up at the St. John's Invitational on April 11, 2023.
The Johnnies led the 11-team field with 162 recorded pars.
Karen Beglin put together an excellent tournament tallying a career-best second place finish in Connecticut. The senior shot a 2-over, 74, in the final round to slide up the leaderboard and tie for runner-up. The Carson City, Nev., native finished at 10-over, 226, the best 54-hole score of her collegiate career.
Xuan Khue Minh Doan surged in the final day hopping up 10 spots for an eighth-place finish. The junior registered a 2-over, 74, to complete a 16-over, 232, scorecard for the tournament. Kelly Wu also tied for eighth place for her best finish at St. John's.
The Red Storm will conclude its fall slate on Oct. 19-20 when it heads to Rehoboth Beach, Del., to play in the Lady Blue Hen Invitational.
