Men’s Tennis Concludes Successful Week at ITA Northeast Regionals

The Red Storm won 13 matches over four days of competition
PHILADELPHIA (Oct. 21, 2024) – The St. John's men's tennis team wrapped up a successful weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regionals, winning 13 total matches over four days of competition.
The Johnnies excelled in doubles play, sending a pair of duos into the round of 16 at the Hecht Tennis Center in Philadelphia. Carl Gustavsson and Danilo Raicevic teamed up to take down Justus Agbo and Santago Valle-Saenz from Saint Joseph's in the opening round before defeating Penn's Tal Goodman and Parashar Bharadwaj in the round of 32.
On the other side of the bracket, Max Amling and Armando Sotelo kicked off their run with a victory over Monmouth's Adam Hillerby and Gabriel Berner. The pair continued their success in the round of 32 with an 8-6 triumph over Tyler Nguyen and Mathis Tremblay from Saint Francis.
Leonardo Mileikowsky and Ignacio Vinas also picked up a win in doubles action, taking down LIU's Victor Sjostrom and Danila Ishchanka before dropping a close match in the second round.
In singles play, Amling defeated Hussein El Tawil from Drexel to advance to the round of 32. Raicevic, Vinas and Ryota Kaneda all won two matches in the qualifying rounds to claim their spots in the main draw of 64. The full results from the weekend are below.
The Johnnies will return to the court for their final competition of the fall on Nov. 1-3 at the Drexel Invite in Philadelphia.
