Jones posted back-to-back triple-doubles against Providence and UConn
NEW YORK – After registering back-to-back triple-doubles against Providence and UConn last weekend, Erin Jones was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced on Monday.
The selection marks the fifth weekly honor roll nod for Jones this season. The standout was also named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week earlier this year on Sept. 16.
Jones dazzled all over the court last weekend, racking up 28 kills, 28 assists, 24 digs, eight aces and five blocks against Providence and UConn.
The right-side hitter rang up the third triple-double of her season against the Friars on Friday night. Jones registered 14 assists, 11 digs, 10 kills and three aces in Rhode Island.
On Saturday, the Albuquerque, N.M. native posted her second triple-double in a row on 18 kills, 14 assists and 13 digs in five sets against the Huskies. The standout also secured five service aces and five blocks in the match.
The junior is one of eight players in NCAA Division I to notch four or more triple-doubles this season. Jones' four triple-doubles are the most by a BIG EAST player since Marquette's Taylor Wolf notched five. Additionally, the standout is the only player in the BIG EAST to ring up a triple-double this year.
Nationally, the 2023 All-BIG EAST selection ranks 12th in points (375.5), 13th in aces (40) and 23rd in kills (312).
The Red Storm will be back in action on Wednesday when it welcomes Villanova to Carnesecca Arena for a midweek contest. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Queens.
