QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's soccer team continues its Midwest road trip as it faces DePaul on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
The Red Storm will play in Chicago for the first time since 2019 and have won each of the last two meetings over the Blue Demons.
Sunday's match from Wish Field in the Windy City will be streamed on FloSports with Peter Fererri on the call. Live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
St. John's (5-6-5, 0-5-3 BIG EAST) looks to get back on track after Thursday night's setback at Butler, where it fell, 3-0, at the Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl in Indianapolis. Leila Lister, Abby Isger and Lea Larouche tallied goals for the Bulldogs in the home victory.
Malene Nielsen racked up save numbers on Thursday tallying her second-straight double-digit performance. The senior recorded 10 stops to finish one shy of her career-high of 11, which was set on Oct. 14, 2021 against Wagner while playing at FDU. After recording 20 stops over the last two games, the Juelsminde, Denmark native is now up to 57 saves on the year, the most by a Red Storm goalkeeper since Naya Lipkens in 2021 while averaging just 58 minutes per contest.
Offensively, Jailene DeJesus and Jordyn Levy rank first on the team with six goals on the year. DeJesus and Athina Sofroniou are knotted for a team-high three assists.
St. John's has captured each of the last two meetings against its conference foe both played in Queens. Last year in the regular season finale, Jessica Garziano stamped the game-winner in the 56th minute off a helper from Lauryn Tran. The goal marked the difference maker in the match to propel the Johnnies' to a 1-0 victory at home on Oct. 26, 2023.
Overall, the series between the two programs is deadlocked at 5-5-1 as Sunday marks the 12th-ever meeting. The Red Storm are seeking its first-ever win on the road coming in with a 0-3-1 record in the Windy City.
DePaul comes into the match with a 4-7-5 overall record but has turned the tides in league play logging a 2-3-3 mark through eight conference matches. The Blue Demons sit seventh in the BIG EAST standings with nine points right on the cusp of qualifying for the BIG EAST Tournament.
DePaul is led by Freya Jupp, who has tallied five goals and two assists for a team-high 12 points. Goalkeeper Elena Millam has twice been named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week and has recorded 63 saves and five shutouts.
Following the conclusion of the road swing, the Red Storm will return home for the regular season finale against Creighton on Halloween at 7 p.m.
