St. John’s Closes Out Second Round in Hawai’i

Peicheng Chen sits in fourth place heading into tomorrow’s final round
KAPOLEI, Hawaii – The St. John's men's golf team closed out the second round of the Kapolei Invitational in Hawai'i on Wednesday.
Peicheng Chen continues to lurk near the top of the leaderboard checking in tied for fourth in the 87-golfer field.
As a team, the Red Storm shot 14-over, 302, on Tuesday's penultimate round at Kapolei Golf Club. Through 36 holes of play, the Johnnies have carded a 15-over, 591, to sit in 12th place in the 15-school field.
Chen carded a 2-over, 74, to stay put tied for fourth place on the island of Oahu. The senior tallied three birdies, all on par-4's. For the tournament, the reigning BIG EAST Champion has posted a 2-under, 142 and sits just two strokes back of the leader Sakke Siltala of Texas State.
Joseph Dolezal climbed up the individual standings matching Chen for the team-low round on Tuesday. The rookie recorded a 2-over, 74, and has registered a 5-over, 149 to tie for 39th place. Brandon Sperling checks in one stroke behind shooting 6-over, 150, after logging identical rounds of 3-over, 75, through 36 holes.
The Red Storm will begin the final round tomorrow at 9 a.m. local time and 3 p.m. ET with a shotgun start from Kapolei Golf Club. Live results will be available on Scoreboard by Clippd.
