Red Storm to wrap up fall competition in Buffalo, N.Y.
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's tennis team will head upstate to the UB Invite for its final fall competition of 2024.
The Red Storm will travel to the University of Buffalo's campus to compete over three days, beginning on Friday. The competition will continue on Saturday and wrap up on Sunday.
This will be the first time the Red Storm has appeared in competition since winning four matches at the ITA Northeast Regionals on Oct. 10-14 in Philadelphia. Noemi Babikova and Alexandra Nielsen teamed up to earn a pair of wins in doubles play to advance to the round of 16. Babikova also picked up a win in singles action while Alicia Gomez was victorious in the first round of singles qualifiers.
This is the second year in a row the Johnnies will wrap up their season at UB's fall invitational. Last November, St. John's totaled 17 wins, led by Babikova's six victories across singles and doubles action. Arina Gumerova was victorious in five of the six matches she competed in and Nicoline Sartz-Lunde added three singles victories.
Following this weekend's competition in Western New York, the Red Storm will prepare for the start of dual-match play in January.
