St. John’s Finishes Strong to Tie for Fifth Place at UAlbany Great Danes Invitational

Minh Doan and Beglin tally top-six finishes at Normanside Country Club
DELMAR, N.Y.– The St. John's women's golf team finished strong on Sunday climbing up the leaderboard to tie for fifth place at the UAlbany Great Danes Invitational.
Xuan Khue Minh Doan and Karen Beglin impressed at Normanside Country Club in Delmar, N.Y., logging top-six finishes. Minh Doan, a 2023-24 All-BIG EAST selection, finished the event with a 9-over, 149, to tie for fourth place. While Beglin placed sixth with a 10-over, 150, and shot a season-low 4-over, 74, during Sunday's final round in Upstate New York.
The Red Storm carded a 51-over, 611, to slide up the team standings. In the final round on Sunday, St. John's recorded a 24-over, 304, which ranked third best amongst the 12-team field. The Johnnies posted a 4.39 stroke average on par-4's, which ranked second-best in the invitational.
Beglin paced the final round surge with 15 pars on the day to climb up 14 spots on the individual leaderboard for her highest finish since the Lehigh Invitational on Oct. 24, 2022. Minh Doan recorded two birdies on Sunday and finished with a 5-over, 75. Freshman Lily Huynh logged a 17-over, 157, good for a 37th place finish.
The squad will be back in action on Oct. 14 when it heads to the Quinnipiac Classic at Farms Country Club in Wallingford, Conn.
