The Red Storm received AVCA All-Region recognition for the seventh straight season
LEXINGTON, Ky. – St. John's volleyball standout Erin Jones was named to the AVCA North Region All-Region Team, the coaches association announced on Tuesday morning.
Jones earns her second AVCA All-Region accolade after being named a unanimous All-BIG EAST Team selection for the second-straight season. The junior has been a force for the Red Storm in 2024, leading the team in points (554.5), kills (469), service aces (53), points per set (4.30), kills per set (3.64) and aces per set (0.41). Jones also ranks second on the team with 374 digs and 305 assists.
The announcement marks the seventh-straight season St. John's has landed a player on an all-region team. Additionally, Jones is one of six players in program history to be tabbed to an AVCA All-Region Team multiple times.
Starting in all 25 matches and 129 sets this season, the Albuquerque, N.M., native paced the BIG EAST in total aces, finished second in total kills and ranked third in kills per set. Nationally, she ranks 23rd in aces, 29th in points and 37th in kills, as of Dec. 10.
Throughout the 2024 campaign, the two-time All-BIG EAST selection registered 11 triple-doubles and 11 double-doubles. Eight of Jones' triple-doubles occurred in conference play, which broke the BIG EAST single-season record that was set by Seton Hall's Shelbey Manthrope in 2014. She is one of just four players in NCAA Division I to record 11 or more triple-doubles this season.
The two-time all-conference selection recorded double-digit kills in 32 matches, double-digit digs in 20 contests and double-digit assists in 14 competitions this year.
The versatile player also set new career-highs in kills, digs and aces throughout the 2024 campaign. She posted a career-best 23 kills and 18 digs against Fairfield on Sept. 18, to go along with a career-record five service aces against Marquette on Oct. 11.
The right-side hitter is no stranger to recognition this season, being honored by the BIG EAST on nine different occasions during the regular season. In addition to her all-conference selection, she was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week three times and was selected to the league's weekly honor roll six times.
Jones is also closing in on becoming the newest member of the St. John's 1,000-career kills club. The New Mexico product has logged 994 kills during her Red Storm tenure and is six away from the 1,000-kill threshold.
The Red Storm will continue its postseason run into the Great Eight round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) on Thursday, when it meets BIG EAST foe UConn. First serve from Carnesecca Arena is set for 7:30 p.m.
