St. John’s to Host Creighton on FOX

Red Storm will play on flagship cable network for the first time in program history
QUEENS, N.Y.– The St. John's women's basketball team will host Creighton on FOX at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
The Johnnies will play on the flagship cable network for the first time in program history. Sloane Martin and Kim Adams will have the call from Carnesecca Arena. Live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com .
The Red Storm will host "4K Day" on Saturday for an action-packed afternoon in Queens, presented by State Farm. The first 1,000 fans will receive a vintage St. John's crewneck sweatshirt, the famous Red Panda will perform her acrobatic act at halftime with CBB on FOX personality John Fanta.

The Johnnies enter their BIG EAST home opener with a 10-2 mark on the year. In the first game of conference play, St. John's fell on the road at Villanova on Saturday, 71-57. Three Johnnies- Lashae Dwyer, Ariana Vanderhoop and Skye Owen finished in double-figures at Finneran Pavilion. The Red Storm forced 18 turnovers off of 14 steals, the squad's second-highest total in the last five years.
St. John's continues to rank among the nation's top defenses checking in at sixth in scoring defense allowing just 51.7 points per game. The Red Storm lead the league in 3-point percentage defense holding the opposition to 27,2 percent.
Dwyer has finished in double-figures in scoring in 11 of 12 appearances and eight consecutive contests. The senior ranks top-10 in the BIG EAST in scoring (15.3 points per game), fourth in free throw percentage (86.0%) and first in steals per game (3.0). The Toronto native's 36 steals rank 18th in the country as of Dec. 27.
Owen and Vanderhoop have found their groove as of late both reaching double-digits in scoring in each of their last two games. Owen has cracked the starting five in each of the last eight games and ranks second on the team averaging 9.6 points per outing and is shooting 50.0 percent from 3-point range. Vanderhoop is tallying 12.0 points per game over her last two contests and is nine points away from reaching the 1,000-career point mark.
Both sides have excelled taking care of the basketball ranking top-eight in NCAA Division I in fewest turnovers per game. Creighton ranks fourth logging just 10.9 and St. John's sits eighth averaging 11.6 giveaways per game.
The two squads will renew a tightly contested series with the Bluejays holding a slight edge, 14-13. Over the last 10 meetings, the two conference foes are evenly split, 5-5. Creighton has won each of the last three meetings, the Red Storm's last victory came on Dec. 4, 2022 when it knocked off the No. 13/14 Bluejays, 66-62, in Queens.
Creighton travels to New York City with a 9-3 record on the year and a 1-0 mark in BIG EAST play. The Bluejays last faced top-ranked No. 1/1 UCLA on Dec. 20, 70-41. Prior to falling to the Bruins, Creighton has won seven-straight contests.
The Bluejays rank top-15 nationally in several statistical categories ranking- fifth in free throw percentage (80.4%), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.63), 3-pointers per game (9.7) and fewest turnovers per game (10.9). Creighton is led by a high-scoring tandem of All-BIG EAST selections in Lauren Jensen (17.8 PPG) and Morgan Maly (17.5 PPG). Maly ranks 15th in the country in the 3-point shooting cashing in on 45.9 percent of her attempts.
Following Saturday's contest, St. John's will ring in 2025 with a New Year's Day contest at Providence at 2 p.m. from Alumni Hall.
