St. John’s Heads to West Coast for Vanharte Orange County Collegiate Classic

Red Storm will compete in California for the first time in a decade
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's golf team traveled to the West Coast to compete in two-day Vanharte Orange County Collegiate Classic in California,
The Red Storm will compete in the three-round 54-hole tournament at the Monarch Beach Golf Links in Dana Point, Calif., on Monday and Tuesday.
St. John's is the lone East Coast squad in a 10-team field that features- British Columbia, California Baptist, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northbridge, Gonzaga, Sacramento State, UC Irvine, UC Riverside and UC San Diego.
Monday's event marks the program's first in California in a decade since St. John's competed in the Bill Cullum Invitational in 2014.
The Red Storm line-up will feature Peicheng Chen, Thomas Finn, Jack Breutsch, David Mlynek and Thomas Stafford.
During its first action of 2024, the Johnnies played three matches against conference foes at the BIG EAST Match Play at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla. The Red Storm compiled a 1-2 record to finish in seventh place earning a 4-3 victory on the final day against Villanova.
Chen led the squad with a pair of match play victories in Florida. Stafford posted a win and a tie and Finn added a crucial win over the Wildcat's all-time career stroke average leader, Peter Weaver on Tuesday.
