Jailene DeJesus to Play in CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup for Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico’s first match is set for Saturday against Haiti
QUEENS N.Y. – St. John's women's soccer midfielder Jailene DeJesus is set to compete for the Puerto Rican National Team at the 2024 CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup in California.
Puerto Rico will take on Haiti on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. in the preliminary round. The winner of that match will advance into the 12-team group stage.
The tournament will run from Feb. 17- March 10 culminating with the final at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.
DeJesus was first called up to Puerto Rican National Team camp in April and played for the squad over the summer in the Central American and Caribbean Games.
During her three seasons in Queens, the speedy winger has appeared in 52 games making 23 starts for Head Coach Ian Stone.
During her junior campaign DeJesus played in all 19 matches totaling 1,209 minutes in 2023. She tallied a pair of game-winning goals in BIG EAST matches against Marquette and Villanova. The midfielder also dished out a pair of assists in tight-knit high-scoring affairs at Creighton against Harvard. The Red Storm were 4-0-0 in games where DeJesus tallied a point.
In 2022, she scored her first-career goal in a 2-2 draw against NJIT and provided an assist on game-tying goal in the final seconds against Creighton at Belson Stadium. DeJesus has tallied nine points (3 G's, 3 A's) for her career.
