Kelly Wu shot 1-under in the opening round at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club

DADE CITY Fla. – The St. John's women's golf team logged a strong opening round at the Spring Break Shootout at lake Jovita Golf and Country Club.

The Red Storm carded a 6-over, 290 as a team and recorded 12 birdies as a team throughout the first holes of the day.

The Johnnies enter the clubhouse in 14^th place at 30-over, 598 with one round left to play tomorrow morning. Four St. John's golfers added five birdies to their scorecards in Dade City, Fla.

Kelly Wu logged an outstanding first round to pace St. John's flushing three birdies on the front nine. The sophomore finished the round with a 1-under, 70. At the conclusion of the day, the Western Illinois transfer registered a 7-over, 149.

Xuan Khue Minh Doan was consistent recording consecutive rounds of 3-over, 74, to enter the clubhouse at 4-over, 146. The Hanoi, Vietnam native tallied a team-best finish on day one sitting in 36^th place. Minh Doan will look to finish atop the standings for seventh time in as many tournaments since arriving in Queens.
