St. John's starts BIG EAST play after spending spring break in California. The squad went 4-4 in The Golden State and finished the trip with a 3-1 record at the Lancers Invite hosted by California Baptist. After starting the year 0-5 at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Fla., the Red Storm finished preseason non-conference play with an 8-5 combined mark during the West Coast swing and at the CSU Blue / Gold Classic in Charleston, S.C.
London Jarrard capped a spectacular return to her home state of California by being named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on March 4. The Carlsbad, Calif. native batted .400 with three home runs and three doubles, bringing home 15 runs to bring her total to a conference-leading 21 RBIs in 2024.
The Red Storm pitching staff has enjoyed a terrific start to the 2024 campaign. In St. John's eight victories this year, the sophomore has either started or appeared in seven of them to accumulate four wins and two saves. The Spring, Texas native recorded a career-high 14 strikeouts to lead the Johnnies to a 4-2 win against Northern Colorado on Feb. 25.
Middle infielder Cassidy Stouffer has also sprung a hot start to her sophomore season in the Red Storm lineup. The Miami, Fla. native launched her first home run of the season against California Baptist on March 1 to break the game open and lead the Red Storm to a 9-2 victory.
