Mouna Bouzgarrou and Arina Gumerova Named BIG EAST Women’s Doubles Team of the Week

The pair went 3-0 in doubles play this week
QUEENS, N.Y. – Following a 3-0 week, Mouna Bouzgarrou and Arina Gumerova have been named the BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
The duo won three matches on the No. 1 doubles court over the past week, helping the Red Storm to victories over Stony Brook, Hofstra and Villanova.
In Wednesday's 4-2 victory against Stony Brook, the pair beat Mia Palladino and Elena Lobo-Corral, 6-3. They followed that up with a 6-4 triumph over Hofstra's Lea Forste-Dinell and Deniz Doyer in the Red Storm's 4-1 win over the Pride on Friday.
They finished their week with a 6-4 victory over Villanova's Maggie Gherig and Emi Callahan on Sunday, pushing the Red Storm to a 4-2 win over its BIG EAST rivals.
Bouzgarrou and Gumerova are 6-1 as a pair this season with all six wins coming on the No.1 court. The duo has won four straight matches together and is 2-1 in BIG EAST play.
This is the second weekly honor for the Red Storm's top duo this season. The pair was named the conference's doubles team of the week on Feb. 5, following a 2-0 week on the courts. Over the past two seasons, Bouzgarrou has been named to the doubles team of the week five times.
The Red Storm will prepare this week for the BIG EAST Tournament, set to take place between April 18-22 in Cayce, S.C. Information regarding seeding, opponents and match times will be released at a later time.
