St. John’s Completes Day One of the Virginia Challenge

Chinenye Onourah posted a top-10 finish in the 400-meter run
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The St. John's track & field team completed day one of competition at the Virginia Challenge at Lannigan Field in Charlottesville, Va., on Friday.
In the 400-meter dash, Chinenye Onourah impressed with a 55.24 mark to finish in ninth place overall. Amarachukwu Obi rung up a 56.61 effort for 26th place.
Nora Haugen logged a 12th-place finish in the 800-meter run off an outdoor season-best mark of 2:08.22.
Brooklyn Chestnut led the Red Storm in the 100-meter dash, posting a 12.04-second mark for 13th place. Cassandra Lemus-Sodji and Tea Siehou finished in 24th and 26th with marks of 12.21 and 12.23, respectively. Delicia Bent rounded out the program's effort in the event with a 12.26-second finishing time.
Claire Cushing enjoyed a quality outing in the 1,500-meter run, completing the race at a pace of 4:40.22.
In the field, Jamora Alves put together a solid performance by registering a 45.38-meter heave for 13th place in the discus event.
The Red Storm will be back for split action tomorrow between day two of the Virginia Challenge and Yale's Mark Young Invitational in New Haven, Conn.
