Red Storm will compete in three-round competition this weekend
QUEENS, N.Y – The St. John's women's golf team will be back in action this weekend at the Rutgers Invitational on April 6-7.
The three-round 54-hole competition will be held for the first time since 2017 and will be held at the Rutgers University Golf Course on-campus. A shotgun start will kick-off both days of play at 8:30 a.m.
The Red Storm will go up against eight other programs from across the Northeast- UAlbany, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Lehigh, Monmouth, Sacred Heart, Seton Hall and the hosts Rutgers.
The Johnnies line-up will feature six players- Xuan Khue Minh Doan, Kelly Wu, Cloe Clocchiatti, Amy Kim, Angelica Kusnowo and Karen Beglin. Laia Barro is slated to compete as an individual.
St. John's returns to the course for the first time since March 19. Last time out, the Johnnies logged a 14th place finish at the Spring Break Shootout. Minh Doan recorded a team-best finish, as she has in all seven events for the squad this season. The sophomore has recorded four top-15 finishes during her first year in Queens.
The women's golf program returns to Rutgers' home tournament for the first time in seven years. The last time the Red Storm competed in the event, it logged a sixth-place finish. The year prior, the team used a strong final round to jump up the leaderboard and log a third-place finish in 2016.
