St. John’s Falls Short Against Marquette, 4-2

Mouna Bouzgarrou picked up two wins against the Golden Eagles
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's tennis team fell short against Marquette on Sunday, 4-2, at the St. John's Outdoor Courts
Marquette won the team doubles point and took three singles contests to claim the conference victory in Queens.
After the Golden Eagles picked up the decision on the No. 3 doubles court, Mouna Bouzgarrou and Arina Gumerova earned a 6-3 victory over Andie Weise and Lara Kaiser on the No. 1 court. Marquette won on the No. 2 court to clinch the team doubles point.
The visitors took a 2-1 lead on the No. 6 singles court, but Bouzgarrou tied the score at 2-2, taking down Emilija Kojcic, 6-2, 6-3, from the first singles position.
On the No. 3 court, Nicoline Sartz-Lunde got the better of Sarah Badawi, 6-3, 6-3. Marquette's victories on the No. 2 and No. 5 courts finished off the 4-2 win for the Golden Eagles.
The Red Storm fall to 5-7 overall and 0-2 in BIG EAST play with the loss. With the victory, Marquette improves to 6-15 and 2-3 in conference action.
The Red Storm will return to action on Wednesday against Stony Brook. Information regarding location and start time will be announced in the coming days.
