Nora Haugen Tabbed as BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

The accolade marks the first conference weekly award of Haugen’s career
QUEENS, N.Y. – After setting a new event-record mark in the 800-meter run at the Tom Farrell Classic last weekend, Nora Haugen was named the BIG EAST Women's Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.
This accolade marks the first time in her career that Haugen has received a BIG EAST weekly award.
The sophomore added an 800-meter run win to her stellar outdoor campaign last Saturday at the Red Storm's final home meet of the season. Haugen won the race at an event-record and personal-best 2:05.59 finishing time. The win marked her second victory in the event during this outdoor season, her last coming at the UConn Northeast Challenge.
At the Penn Relays, the Sandnes, Norway product helped her team set a new program record in the sprint medley relay. The squad of Haugen, Brooklyn Chestnut, Amarachukwu Obi and Chinenye Onuorah shattered the previous school record of 3:56.32 from the 2016 Penn Relays with a 3:49.46 mark for ninth place.
The Red Storm will be back in action tomorrow at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Villanova, Pa. The three-day meet will kick off Thursday at 11 a.m. and conclude on Saturday evening.
