Nora Haugen Named USTFCCCA All-American Honorable Mention

Haugen placed 19th on a 2:03.47 mark in the 800-meter run at nationals
NEW ORLEANS – Following a 19th-place finish in the 800-meter run at the NCAA Track & Field Championships, Nora Haugen has been named a USTFCCCA All-American Honorable Mention, the organization announced on Monday.
The honor marks the second straight year that a Johnnie has been enshrined as an All-American Honorable Mention. Last season, Jamora Alves was named to the group after placing 22nd in the discus at nationals. Haugen is now the 10th member of the women's track & field program to receive an All-American distinction.
Last weekend, Haugen placed 19th against the best in the nation in the NCAA 800-Meter Semifinals in Eugene, Ore. The sophomore paced the race in 2:03.47.
At the NCAA East Regional, the standout shattered the outdoor 800-meter program record in back-to-back races. In the first round, she registered a mark of 2:03.42 to finish fifth overall. Two days later, she set her own record once again with a time of 2:02:68 to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
The Sandnes, Norway product has put together an incredible sophomore season in Queens, breaking school records in the indoor and outdoor 800-meter run and the sprint medley relay six times. The former BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week has also tallied six wins and has recorded 11 podium finishes in three events during the indoor and outdoor seasons.
