St. John’s Earns Sixth-Straight ITA All-Academic Team Award

Eight student-athletes were honored as scholar-athletes
TEMPE, ARIZ. (July 23, 2024) – The St. John's women's tennis program has received
recognition as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team for the sixth-straight year, the organization announced on Monday.
Additionally, all eight members of the team were named ITA Scholar Athletes. Alicia Gomez, Arina Gumerova, Camila Ordonez, Mouna Bouzgarrou, Nicoline Sartz-Lunde, Noemi Babikova, Victoria Papadopoulou and Willa Bay Breunich each earned the distinction.
"I am extremely proud of my team's dedication to academic excellence," said Head Coach Lauren Leo. "It's quite an honor to have the whole team receive recognition by the ITA for their academic achievements."
To earn the ITA All-Academic Team Award, a program must record a team cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. A student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.5 GPA to receive the individual accolade.
As a team, the Red Storm posted an impressive 3.73 cumulative mark for the entire 2023-24 academic year. On the court this past season, the Johnnies advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament Semifinals for the ninth straight time under Leo's leadership.
Over 1,500 Division I student-athletes were named ITA scholar-athletes and 255 programs received All-Academic Team distinctions.
