Erin Jones Named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

Jones registered the second triple-double in program history against Princeton last Friday
NEW YORK – Following a 2-1 showing at the Penn State Invitational, Erin Jones was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
The honor marks the second conference offensive player of the week selection of Jones' career. The previous honor came on Oct. 16, 2023.
Jones led the charge for the Red Storm in University Park, Pa., totaling 39 kills, 41 assists, 26 digs and 11 blocks across the weekend. At the conclusion of the tournament, the junior was named to the Penn State Invitational All-Tournament Team alongside Giorgia Walther.
The Albuquerque, N.M. native registered the second triple-double in program history and of her career against Princeton this past Friday. Jones lit up the stat sheet with 13 kills, 26 assists, 12 digs and a career-high five blocks.
The Junior was the 13th player in NCAA Division I and the first player in the BIG EAST to log a triple-double this season.
The next day, the right-side hitter notched her third double-double of the season with 12 kills and 11 digs to go along with six helpers and three blocks against Duke. Jones closed out the invitational with a team-high 14 kills against Penn State on 33.3 percent hitting paired with nine assists, three digs and three rejections.
Nationally, the 2023 All-BIG EAST selection ranks 21st in points (164) and 35th in kills (136).
The Red Storm will be back in action on Wednesday when it takes on Fairfield in Carnesecca Arena. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Queens.
