Wiktoria Kowalczyk and Erin Jones Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll Following Undefeated Week

Kowalczyk was named the Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic MVP on Saturday
NEW YORK – Following a 4-0 week at home, Wiktoria Kowalczyk and Erin Jones were named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, the conference office announced on Monday.
The pair of honors mark the second time this season that Kowalczyk and Jones were tabbed to the conference's weekly honor roll. Kowalczyk and Jones previously received the conference honor on Sept 2.
Kowalczyk was magnificent for the Red Storm last week, tallying 180 assists at 11.25 per set with 25 digs, seven aces, six blocks and two kills across the program's 4-0 week. The standout was named the Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic MVP on Saturday.
The Warsaw, Poland native led the Red Storm in assists in all four matches last week, including a season-high 58 assists paired with five digs against Fairfield on Wednesday. The setter went on to log 37 helpers and seven digs against Iona before notching her second double-double of the season against LIU with a match-best 40 helpers and 10 digs on Friday.
The senior closed out the Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic against Bryant on Saturday with 45 helpers and three service aces. Kowalczyk currently leads the BIG EAST and St. John's with 527 total assists.
Jones continued to dominate last week, registering 71 kills at 4.44 per set with 49 digs, 12 assists and 10 service aces while notching double-doubles in three of the team's four outings.
The right-side hitter set career-highs with 23 kills and 18 digs for her fourth double-double along with four assists, two aces and a block against Fairfield last Wednesday.
On Friday, Jones paced the Red Storm's match against Iona with 14 kills at a whopping 65 percent hitting clip with eight digs, two blocks and two aces. Later that day, the Albuquerque, N.M., product rang up 17 kills at a 43.3 hitting percentage and 12 digs for her fifth double-double in St. John's 3-0 win over LIU.
The junior closed out the nonconference season with her second-straight and sixth double-double of the year on 17 kills and 11 digs against Bryant. The 2023 All-BIG EAST recipient also matched her career high in aces with four.
St. John's will begin BIG EAST play this weekend when it hosts Seton Hall in Carnesecca Arena on Friday. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Queens.
