St. John’s Hits the Road to Face Providence on Thursday Night

Red Storm attack has produced nine goals and 12 assists over last three matches
QUEENS, N.Y.– The St. John's women's soccer team will hit the road to face Providence on Thursday night for its first BIG EAST road match.
The conference contest will kick-off at 6 p.m. from Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. The game will be streamed on FloSports with Mike Mancuso on the call from the Ocean State.
St. John's enters the match following an offensive firework display on Sunday battling to a 3-3 draw with UConn. The six goals were the highest combined score for the Red Storm in a BIG EAST since Oct. 23, 2021.
On the year, the Red & White hold a 5-1-3 record remain unbeaten (4-0-2) in its last six matches dating back nearly a month.
The Johnnies' attack has been humming recently tallying nine goals and 12 assists (30 points) over their last three matches. The scoring stretch is the highest goal total over that span since the beginning of the fall 2021 campaign. On the year, Head Coach Ian Stone's crew have logged 15 goals and 14 assists for 44 points, ranking top-five in the league in all three categories.
Jordyn Levy leads the charge after netting her fifth goal of the year in the high-scoring draw with Huskies. The senior ranks second in the BIG EAST in total goals (5) and goals per game (0.56) and has already surpassed her previous season-high mark. On Monday, the Dix Hills, N.Y., product was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this season.
Nora Basile burst onto the scene on Sunday racking up her first-ever collegiate goal and assist. The rookie forward recorded a game-high three points in her inaugural BIG EAST match and garnered the conference freshman of the week honor for her efforts.
Providence enters its first BIG EAST match of the 2024 campaign with a 3-4-1 mark on the year. The Friars are coming off a pair of multi-goal defeats at the hands of Ivy League opponents. Its last time out, Providence fell on the road at Columbia, 4-0, on Sept. 20.
Graduate student Kacey Lawrence has led the Friars offensively with team-high's in goals (3), assists (3) and points (9).
The two sides have a long tight knit history on the pitch as the all-time series is deadlocked at 17-17-6 dating back to St. John's inaugural season in 1987. The Johnnies have captured three of the last five meetings and have met in two of the last three BIG EAST Tournaments. In 2023, the Red Storm equalized late in the regular season meeting to salvage a 2-2 draw courtesy of a header from Frederique St.-Jean. The two met again in Providence for the BIG EAST Tournament Quarterfinal where the Friars took a 3-1 victory.
Following Thursday's match, St. John's will be back in Queens for Senior Day when it hosts Seton Hall at 1 p.m. from Belson Stadium.
