RV/ RV St. John’s Heads to Seton Hall for Saturday Night Showdown

The Johnnies have won 10 of their last 11 games
QUEENS, N.Y. – The RV/RV St. John's men's basketball team (15-3, 6-1 BIG EAST) will travel across the Hudson River to meet longtime rival Seton Hall (6-11, 1-5 BIG EAST) for a Saturday night showdown at the Prudential Center at 8 p.m.
The national telecast will air on FS1 with Tim Brando and LaPhonso Ellis on the call from Newark. Live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
An audio broadcast of the game on the LEARFIELD Red Storm Sports Network with John Minko and Brandon Tierney will also be available on a variety of platforms including the Varsity Network App, TuneIn Radio, RedStormSports.com and the St. John's Red Storm mobile app. The radio broadcast can also be heard on SiriusXM radio channel 382 and via the SiriusXM App.
The Johnnies are red hot having won 10 of their last 11 contests, including four-straight and are off to its best record through 18 games since the 1985-86 campaign. In BIG EAST play, the Red Storm hold a 6-1 mark for the time in 26 years, when it began league competition with an 8-1 record in 1998-99.
St. John's as it has all season long showed great resiliency in its last contest against Georgetown. Trailing by as many as 15 including 14 in the second half, the Red Storm mounted a comeback ignited by a 19-2 scoring run to down the Hoyas, 63-58, at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night. The Johnnies have won five out of their six games when trailing at the break and have orchestrated comebacks of 15 points or more twice over the six league games. The squad ranks first in scoring margin outpacing opponents by plus-9.4 in the latter stanza.
The reigning BIG EAST and MBWA Player of the Week RJ Luis Jr. has been the catalyst for the Red Storm offensively during its winning streak. The junior is averaging 21.4 points per game over his last four appearances and netted a team-high 19 points on Tuesday night against the Hoyas. The Miami native has been one of the most impactful players in the conference ranking tied for first in double-doubles (6), fourth in points per game (17.5) and eighth in rebounds per game (6.4).
Aaron Scott has scored in double-figures in three-straight contests and added 14 points in the win over the Hoyas. The North Texas transfer knocked down four triples on 57.1 percent shooting from beyond-the-arc at the World's Most Famous Arena. Zuby Ejiofor finished with a near double-double of 10 points and nine boards on Tuesday. The big man has pulled down seven or more rebounds in each of his last 15 games and ranks second in NCAA Division I in offensive rebounding logging 4.6 per contest.
Kadary Richmond dished out a season-high eight assists against the Hoyas and is logging 6.3 helpers over his last four appearances. The graduate student ranks eighth in the BIG EAST logging 4.7 assists per game. The Brooklyn native will return to his former school where he spent three seasons with the Pirates and was a All-BIG EAST First Team selection in 2023-24.
The two schools separated by just 39 miles will meet on the hardwood for the 114th time on Saturday. St. John's lead the all-time series, 63-50. The Red Storm snapped a four-game skid against its conference foe in last year's BIG EAST Tournament Quarterfinals in a 91-72 rout to send St. John's to its first semifinal appearance since 2000. The Pirates have protected home court taking 31 of 47 meetings in New Jersey. St. John's is seeking its first win at the Prudential Center since Feb. 13, 2014.

Isaiah Coleman has taken a huge leap for Seton Hall during his sophomore campaign. The Fredericksburg, Va., native is averaging 15.4 points per game, which ranks top-10 in the BIG EAST.
