Women’s Tennis Readies for Fordham Invitational

The Red Storm will compete over three days in The Bronx.
QUEENS, N.Y. — The St. John's women's tennis team continues its fall campaign this weekend, heading to The Bronx to compete in the Fordham Invitational.
The Johnnies second competition of the fall season begins Oct. 3-Oct. 5. The Red Storm are in a field comprised of host Fordham, NJIT, Army, FDU and Stony Brook.
Two weekends ago, the team hit the courts for the first time this season, winning 14 matches at the Hofstra Invitational in Hempstead, N.Y.
Captains Alicia Gomez and Charlotta Buss opened the fall season with strong performances, as Gomez led the Red Storm with five victories while Buss added three wins of her own. Freshman Abi Redman also impressed in her Red Storm debut, tallying five victories, going 3-0 in doubles play with Alicia Gomez.
This is the second consecutive year that St. John's will be appearing in the Rams' fall invitational.
Following this weekend's action in the Bronx, the Johnnies return to action on Oct. 9-Oct. 14 at the ITA Northeast Regionals in the city of Brotherly Love at UPenn.
