St. John’s Has Strong Weekend at Fordham Invitational

The Red Storm won 15 total matches over three days of competition
BRONX, N.Y. — The St. John's women's tennis team continued its fall campaign this weekend, tallying 15 total victories at the Fordham Invitational.
The Johnnies were in a field that saw student-athletes from host Fordham, NJIT, Stony Brook, Army and FDU.
Athletes were spread across five singles and three doubles brackets, with each draw operating as an individual eight-player tournament.
Nao Kojima impressed in her second tournament with the Red Storm, joining Charlotta Buss with a team high four victories. In singles play, Kojima dominated her draw going 3-0 en route to winning the respective bracket. She shined in the second round defeating Army's Lillian Zhang 6-1, 6-3 on Saturday, and along with her partner Nicoline Sartz-Lunde, the pair went 1-1 picking up a 6-2 win over FDU's Fredericks-McKee and Kato.
Buss turned in a standout performance over the weekend, posting four total victories and capturing her respective bracket alongside Kojima. The senior captain dominated in singles play, closing out the tournament with a decisive 6-0, 6-2 win over Stony Brook's Cornelia Bruu-Syverson in the finals. In doubles action, Buss partnered with Giulia Bizzari to notch a convincing win against Fordham's Aguilar and Siem.
Abi Redman earned a pair of singles victories, highlighted by a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win over Army's Stacey Samonte. The full results from the weekend are below.
