St. John’s to Host Butler on Wednesday Night

Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium
QUEENS, N.Y.– The St. John's women's soccer team (2-8-4, 0-5-2 BIG EAST) returns home to Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. to host Butler (5-4-5, 2-3-2 BIG EAST).
Wednesday's contest will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Jack Barteck on the call from Queens. Live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
The Red Storm look to bounce back against the Bulldogs after suffering a 3-0 setback at No. 20 Xavier on Oct 15 in Cincinnati. Senior goalkeeper Kayla Bower tallied eight saves in the loss, marking her fourth consecutive match with eight or more stops. The Red Storm held a Musketeers' attack ranks top-three in points per game scoreless in the opening 45 minutes.
Bower continues to shine between the pipes, recording six or more saves in each of her last eight contests. The Lincoln Park, N.J., native ranks 18th nationally and first in the BIG EAST with 5.93 saves per game. She also owns a .798 save percentage, good for second in the conference. Bower has posted four or more stops in 14 of her 15 appearances this season, including a career-high 10-save effort at Marquette on Oct. 1.
The team captain is four stops shy from moving into 10th all-time in program history in single-season saves as she would surpass Naya Lipkens mark of 86 during the 2021 campaign, where the Red Storm advanced to the NCAA Tournament Round of 16.
St. John's and Butler will meet for the 14th time in series history, with the Johnnies holding a 6-5-2 all-time advantage. The most recent meeting came on Oct. 24, 2024, when the Bulldogs earned a 3-0 victory in Indianapolis. In their last five matchups, St. John's and Butler have an even 2-2-1 record. The Red Storm is undefeated against the Bulldogs in Queens posting a 4-0-2 mark at home.
Butler is coming off a 2-0 home victory over Seton Hall on Oct. 18, snapping a three-game losing streak. The Bulldogs ranks near the top of the BIG EAST in total assists (2nd), shots per game (3rd), total points (3rd) and scoring offense (4th). Butler is led by Tari St. John and Jon Alman, who own a 198-140-52 record across 20 seasons at the helm as co-head coaches.
