St. John’s Falls to No. 15 Georgetown on Saturday Night

Kayla Bower recorded eight saves at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's soccer team (2-6-4, 0-3-2 BIG EAST) fell to No. 15 Georgetown (9-2-2, 5-0-0 BIG EAST) on Saturday night, 4-0, at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium.
The Hoyas recorded two goals off penalty kicks in the opening 30 minutes and never relinquished their lead in Queens.
Georgetown's Henley Tippins recorded a brace while Natalie Means and Maja Lardner tacked on goals. Means logged a pair of assists while Lizzie Heller chipped in one helper on the fourth goal.
Kayla Bower finished the night with eight saves as the BIG EAST leader has recorded 7.4 saves per outing through her last five contests. After setting a career-high of 10 stops on Wednesday night at Marquette, the senior captain logged 9.0 saves per game in two matches this past week.
Daisy Burt delivered a season-high two shots in a personal best 46 minutes of action on Saturday night.
The Hoyas got on the board in the 12th minute after a video review confirmed a penalty kick for the visitors. Tippins struck a line drive to give Georgetown a 1-0 advantage in the early going.
St. John's had its best chance of the opening half after a Daniela Monzon heel pass to Leana Ruiz setup a cross that landed right in front of the six-yard box. The service went to Madison Mariani but was cleared away by Georgetown goalkeeper Cara Martin.
The Hoyas doubled their advantage as Natalie Means tucked home a shot from the penalty spot in the 31st minute of action. Georgetown held a 2-0 lead going into the locker room for halftime.
In the second half, Maja Lardner recorded a goal for the Red Storm off a feed from Natalie Means in the 53rd minute. Tippins recorded her second of the night in 65th minute to complete the scoring.
Prior to the game, the St. John's Athletic Department welcomed back members of the 2015 BIG EAST Regular Season Championship team in recognition of the 10-year anniversary of their conference crown.
St. John's will be back in action next Saturday when it hosts Villanova for Senior Night in an 8 p.m. start from Queens.
