Brooke Moore Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

The junior recorded three consecutive 20-plus point performances
NEW YORK – After recording three consecutive 20-plus point performances, Brooke Moore was named BIG EAST Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Moore showed out during a pivotal 3-0 week for the Red Storm averaging 21.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. The junior shot the lights out going 60 percent from the field, 57.1 percent from 3-point range, and 80.1 percent from the charity stripe.
The junior becomes the first St. John's player to earn BIG EAST Player of the Week since Unique Drake on Jan. 8, 2024.
The Kennesaw, Ga., native recorded the first three 20-point performances and first two double-doubles of her career in a six-day span. The 6-foot guard spent her first two years at Liberty and earns the first weekly conference honor of her career.
On Monday, Moore went for the first double-double of her career tallying 20 points and 11 rebounds in the 71-46 win over Central Connecticut State. The guard played a pivotal role in a lockdown defensive effort in the second half limiting the Blue Devils to just 15 points over the final 20 minutes.
At the Cayman Islands Classic, Moore continued her prolific scoring efforts tallying 22.5 points on 70.6 percent shooting, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. She joined teammate Sa'Mya Wyatt on the Cayman Islands Classic All-Tournament Team. The Red Storm were the only team out of the eight-school field two have two players make the all-tournament team.
On Friday, Moore exploded for a career-high 25 points in 36 minutes of action as the Johnnies outlasted Georgia Tech, 77-75, at John Gray Gymnasium. The guard was clutch from the free throw line cashing on 10-of-11 attempts from the charity stripe, including a perfect 6-of-6 during a seven-point fourth quarter comeback.
Moore followed it up with her third-straight 20-point performance as the Red Storm recorded its sixth-consecutive win against Memphis, 84-73. The Liberty transfer pulled down 11 boards for her second double-double over the last three contests.
On the year, Moore leads the team averaging 15.8 points per game on 60.0 percent shooting from the field, which ranks 23rd in NCAA Division I.
St. John's will be back in action riding a six-game winning streak when it opens BIG EAST play against Creighton on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
